Many of us seem to appear very infrequently in our family photos. There can be several reasons for this, but it’s SO important to recognise this and to do something about it. Your family will cherish those memories of you captured.
Perhaps you think that you always look bad in photos?
Rest assured that your family does NOT notice that little bit of extra weight or how your nose looks a bit long. They see the person that they love, just exactly as you are. I’m as guilty as the next person of this, but I have recently been forcing myself to get into the frame more and more, regardless of how I think I look.
Think about that friend who always hates herself in photos – have you ever really noticed the “flaws” that she sees straight away?
I thought not!

My mum never likes photos of herself, but I absolutely love this one – it shows her character and her sense of humour more than any more ‘flattering’ shot.
This is the mum that I love…
Knowing how a camera ‘sees’ is everything
There are little tricks in how you stand, and where the camera is relative to you, which can make an amazing difference in how you look in photos. Even the choice of lens makes a difference! And of course what you wear can have a huge impact on how you appear – I’ll be giving you advice on that before your session
This is why you are hiring a professional photographer!
So you can leave that bit to me, I will make you look as good as possible. You just need to relax and be yourself – the person your family loves more than anything. Don’t let vanity get in the way of capturing those memories for them!
Are you the photographer in your house?

My husband has lots of great qualities, but unfortunately photography is NOT one of them! He can fix almost anything but despite putting my camera on automatic mode, he almost never gets a good shot!

How I’d love to have natural organic moments like this captured for me!
I feel a little bit sad that there are so few nice photos of me with the boys. I usually have to ask for a photo to be taken. This results in something rather posed, rather than an organic moment being captured. Often when I look back at holiday photos, there is not even one where I appear! So this year, I have started to take more self portaits. It’s a bit tricky and you do need a bit of equipment to get it right, but it’s so worth it to have those memories captured!

If either of these applies to you, why not call me to talk about a photoshoot. To capture YOU in your precious moments before your little ones have grown and flown the nest!
