What to expect during your Newborn Lifestyle Photoshoot

When should it happen?

Many photographers say that newborn shoots need to happen in the first 2 weeks. I’m not so tied to that, as there are good things about capturing slightly older babies too! Click here for more of your questions answered…

Lifestyle Newborn Sessions

Having a new baby is a life-changing event, but the newborn stage passes so quickly. Believe me, looking back it can all just be a blur!

You want to capture the fleeting moments of your little bundle grabbing your finger with their tiny hand, the soft baby hairs on their head and the look on their gorgeous newborn face. As a photographer I can’t bottle their newborn smell for you (I wish!).

BUT! I can turn these memories into beautiful photographs to treasure forever.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We’ll start with a quick call at a time that suits you before your little one is born. We’ll pencil in a date based on when they plan to arrive – but this may change, as babies have their own agenda! For the same reason, newborn lifestyle sessions typically take a bit longer than a standard family photo session, but I will stay for as long as it takes to get lovely imagery, and in extreme cases, if your baby is just not up for it on the day, we can reschedule.

I am very easy going and I know that the early parenting days are hard – so don’t feel the need to have a clean house –

Unlike a documentary shoot, lifestyle shoots don’t really expose and embrace the mess, so I can often be found tidying up a bit where needed, or even making you a cup of tea in between the shooting!
